In autumn, the Mallnitz Hills become quieter. The visibility is clear , the air pleasantly fresh , and the forests slowly turn golden yellow . Now is the ideal time for leisurely strolls , extended hikes , and mindful hours spent in nature.
Particularly beautiful are tours through the Seebach Valley to Lake Stappitz , into the Tauern Valley , or along the Mallnitz Valley circular trail . In September, the deer rut also provides an impressive natural spectacle. Guided tours with national park rangers allow you to experience this special time respectfully and from a safe distance.

The Ankogel ski area reaches altitudes of over 2,600 meters. This manageable ski resort combines a high-alpine panorama with varied runs and plenty of space on the slopes. Beginners and families will find a suitable practice area at the Köfele lifts in the valley, while experienced winter sports enthusiasts appreciate the longer runs and freeride opportunities on the Ankogel.
For those seeking even more variety , the Mölltal Glacier and the Gastein ski resorts are easily accessible from Mallnitz – the latter even by train! After a day on the slopes, you can return to your own apartment – with ample space for evenings spent together and a ski room for your equipment.

Up to 25 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails wind through two of the most beautiful high valleys in the national park. The trails are prepared for both classic and skating styles and have been awarded the Carinthian cross-country ski trail quality seal .

As a mountaineering village, Mallnitz is a special starting point for ski tours in the Hohe Tauern National Park. The selection ranges from relatively easy introductory tours to challenging high-alpine adventures.
The tour to the Häusleralm can begin directly in the village center. Experienced ski tourers will find numerous other options around the Romatenspitze , Jamnigalm , and Ankogel mountains .
